Late Nights and Early Mornings

This weekend, we hit up two shows we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. In New Haven, we played CT Folk First Fridays, but not before doing an 8:15am in-studio radio appearance in West Hartford. You know what they say about having a real face for radio? Well that’s about how we felt (and probably looked) that morning. A few catnaps and some left-over Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches later, we were ready for the show. It was rainy, so we bid the good folks a safe farewell with an encore performance of “Bring It On Home to Me.”

Saturday brought us way upstate to Cazenovia, NY and the Nelson Odeon- a music venue converted from an old Grange Hall, and one of the best run and most delightful places we’ve ever played. The owners Jeff and Linda not only opened their home to us, but plied us with more home-made stew, desserts, and popcorn than even we could handle. Linda even baked a special five layer “Half Dime” cake for our appearance! The truly excellent Jeffrey Foucault kicked off the night with some really stunning blues and country tinged tunes, and the packed house kept us grooving late- after nearly 3 hours they still wanted more, so we sent them into the cold snowy night with an encore performance of “My Baby Just Cares For Me.” Something was in the air, and Jeff, out of courtesy (or potentially stupidity) left the sound on, so we continued jamming til nearly after 2am, and partied with our friends old and new.

It’s a real gas to be playing the tunes from the new record for you, keep in mind Full Head of Steam will be available online January 14th! See you down the road…
