Spring has sprung, we’ve got a new radiator in the van, and we’re taking the show back on the road.
It feels great to be hitting the stage again after working so hard to release the new album, and the support from our fans has made it all worthwhile. We played to a sell-out crowd at our big NYC hometown release show at Rockwood Stage 2, a special pleasure as we’ve been playing that club since the very early days. We had the 5-piece band with Seth and Bruce killin’ it on the horns, and were thrilled to have Darlingside join us on the bill as well. If you hung around late night, you probably saw us getting down to our new favorite band, Breastfist.
And sports rivalries be damned, we just played in New England. We’ve had some great shows in New Bedford, MA (including a late night after-party set at an old sailor’s bar that felt a bit like what the old Beatles Cavern Club gigs must have been like), and the excellent Simple Gifts Coffeehouse in Nashua, NH. That was Tony’s birthday, so we let him sleep in, bought him an egg sandwich, and sung him Happy Birthday 3 times (twice from stage at Simple Gifts).
We did a performance/interview for The Alternate Root Magazine that will be broadcast later this spring to 2.5 million homes throughout the greater Boston area! We were joined by our good pal JJ Byars on sax for this latest run, he’s a heck of a guy and a darn fine writer himself – check out his work here.
Throw in an off day at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston where Eben met his spirit animal in a garter snake and went on a soul journey, plenty of fine roadside diners, and the season’s first sunburns, and we’d say things are coming up roses for the Dimes.
